Welcome, fellow theologain.

Theologians don't have to have to be old, wear glasses, be surrounded by stacks of books, and wear old-timey hats. We are all created to live and grow in the knowledge of our God.  A theologian is simply a "studier of Him." No one is to                           for Jesus. Whatever your blank is, He calls you to Him. May we all grow more into faith as we grow up.

My Story.

One of my favorite quotes from G.K. Chesterton states, "Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragon can be killed." Often, we try to sugar coat things for children. This is not limited to fictional stories, this is often done with the Bible as well. We talk around the truth to protect them. As a parent and an educator, I have found that it is better instead to talk plainly to children, albeit in age-appropriate ways. I desire to see intentional Christian theology presented to kids in ways that are suitable for their development that allow them to grow into theological truths as they grow up.

I am a missionary, a teacher, a mom, as well as a writer and have found that stories help reach children and adults in ways that other avenues cannot. In my work in education and ministry, I have often looked for specific books to help me bridge difficult conversations or topics. When I found that the books I was looking for didn't exist, I wrote them. God uses stories to tell people about Himself. He is the Great author of all things. What greater purpose could stories hold than to reflect in some manner the truth and poetry interwoven into this world by the greatest storyteller Himself. What a gift stories are and what a privilege to use storytelling to help us know and love Him more.  Welcome, I am so glad you are here!

About Me.

I would love a chance to connect and get to know you. In the meantime, here is a bit about me.

I have been married to a handsome bible teacher with great hair for over 12 years. I am also the mother of three energetic adventurers (and some interesting pets). Filling these roles are my favorite.

I bake bread. This hobby was born completely out of necesity. I currently live in a third world country and I like bread...so I have to make it. But, it has given me surprising joy (also frustration...sometimes bread is its own boss and does what it pleases). Baking is a slow and quiet art form, and then you get it to eat it so that's cool.

I love to be outdoors. I enjoy hiking, biking, snorkeling, and most other outdoor activities you can think of.  (But not running. I like the idea of running...but at this point, I can't get past the theoretical desire to actual appreciate the practice action. We are all works in progress.)

I love to garden and have a house full of plants. (My husband says there are too many. I tell him that I am helping him breath better.) I am a pragmatist though. I train my plants to live by my schedule. If they can survive that way, then great! If not...they die and I get new plants until I find the ones that fit just right.

I enjoy art and being creative with different mediums.  I love that God is so creative and He lets us join with Him in that work. We are co-laborers in filling this world with beauty (or at least something that didn't exist before - beautiful or otherwise) and that is fun.

I believe in the power of stories. The Great Author has given all of us our own stories and we get to live out our individual ones, while contributing to the grand story of the world. May we steward our stories and those of others' well.
